Singhose Family Trip 2001

In Tokyo we visited several famous sites. Here is my mother at Harajuku, an area where Japanese youth like to look their best.
Nearby is Meiji shrine. 
We also visited a Japanese garden near the shrine, complete with a lake and Koi.
We traveled down to Kyoto on the supertrain for a 3 day visit. The train station has an amazing open-air staircase.
We visited the ancient imperial palace. Japanese citizens must go on a waiting list for a couple of months to get in, but foreigners get next day service. Junko was able to tag along as our interpreter.
Of Course we visited the Golden Temple - Kinkakuji and several other temples and shrines
Never forget to pay your proper respects.
I also bought my mother a summer kimono to wear when meeting Junko's family.
Upon returning to Tokyo, we had a family meeting at the New Otani Hotel.
