A group of us went to Oregon to watch the US Track Championships, June 99.
The weather was pretty good. And when it rained a little, we looked at the bright side of things:

Our first order of business was to do some dune jumping. There are some massive dunes on the coast that provide excellent launch pads:

To give you an idea how large they are:

Someone had the bright idea to do a challenging workout, so I selected about the most challenging run
that mortals can complete - McGowan Creek.
It is 6.5 miles to the top and very STEEP a lot of the way. Here we are at the beginning when
we did not fully comprehend the impending pain: (Bill, Lila, Leftovers, Chuck, Lerry)

Early on we all felt pretty good:

Our accent times ranged from 57 min. to 1:25, but we all did make it.

Next up was a trip to Crater Lake for some Snow jumping and of course the requisite hand stand:
